Steven Spielberg mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on the red carpet at last night’s AFI Gala in his honor that John Williams will return to score the fifth, currently untitled Indiana Jones movie. Harrison Ford will return in the title role. No plot details or other casting announcements have been made yet. Kathleen Kennedy (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park) and Frank Marshall (Jurassic World, The Bourne Trilogy, The Sixth Sense) will produce the project. Williams has composed the music for all four previous movies in the series and received Academy Award nominations for his work on Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indiana Jones 5 is set to be released on July 19, 2019 by Walt Disney Pictures.
Williams is also set to score Spielberg’s Ready Player One and has recently scored the director’s The BFG. He is also expected to return as the composer for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Hopefully both Ford and Williams won´t be “too old” by then. I think the film is supposed to be released in 2018, or isn´t it?
2019, actually, John will be 87 years old when the movie come out. But I’m confident that he’ll be healthy enough to do both this and the new Star Wars movies.
