Dan Romer has scored the new Amazon Studios pilot Sneaky Pete. The show is created by David Shore (House, Battle Creek) & Bryan Cranston and stars Giovanni Ribisi, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Shane McRae, Libe Barer and Peter Gerety. Cranston also appears in the series as a guest star. The drama follows a conman who, after leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his former cellmate, and gets roped into the family’s bail bond business. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters) has directed the pilot episode. Shore and Cranston are also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with James Degus and Eric Gunn. The Sneaky Pete pilot is now available to stream on Amazon. Viewer feedback will partially determine whether the project will be picked up to series.
Romer who is best known for co-scoring Beasts of the Southern Wild with Benh Zeitlin also has composed the music for the Netflix original movie Beasts of No Nation. The film is directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre, True Detective) and stars Idris Elba, Ama K. Abebrese, Grace Nortey, David Dontoh and Opeyemi Fagbohungbe. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala follows a young African boy is forced to become a child soldier in a rebel army led by a brutal commandant. Cliff Martinez was originally attached to score the film. The drama will premiere next month at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in select theaters and on Netflix on October 16, 2015.
