Alex Heffes has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller Bastille Day. The film is directed by James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Eden Lake) and stars Idris Elba, Richard Madden, Charlotte Le Bon, Kelly Reilly and Jose Garcia. The movie follows a rogue CIA agent who is forced to team with an unsuspecting American con-artist to thwart a terrorist attack on French soil. Andrew Baldwin and John Hodge (Trainspotting, The Beach) have written the screenplay. Philippe Rousselet (Source Code, Lord of War) is producing the project for Vendome Pictures, alongside Steve Golin (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Babel), David Kanter (In the Land of Women, The End of the Tour) and Bard Dorros (Triple 9, Fun Size) for Anonymous Content. Bastille Day is currently in post-production. Focus Features will distribute the film in the U.S.
As previously reported, Heffes whose previous scoring credits include The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, State of Play, The Rite, Red Riding Hood and The First Grader has also composed the music for Stephen Frears’ Lance Armstrong biopic The Program, which is set to be released overseas this fall.
Talented actors, AND music – Bastille Day is a certain winner!
