Lorne Balfe has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi action movie Terminator Genisys. Hans Zimmer will serve as the executive music producer according to the film’s new international poster. The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Lee Byung-hun, Dayo Okeniyi, Courtney B. Vance, Sandrine Holt and J. K. Simmons. The movie follows John Connor as he sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future and finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past.. Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) have written the screenplay. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (World War Z, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, I Am Legend) are producing the project. Balfe is taking over from composer Christophe Beck who was originally attached to score the film. Terminator: Genisys is set to be released on July 1, 2015 by Paramount Pictures. Balfe whose recent projects include DreamWorks Animation’s Home and Penguins of Madagascar also has the NBC event series A.D. and the thriller Captive coming up. He also scored the thriller Bone in the Throat, which just premiered this past week at the SXSW Film Festival.
I’m aye ok with this. Lorne is kinda unpredictable, but his “Beyond: Two Souls” score (also under Hans’ supervision) was really, really good.
Oh, very bad choice.
Shake things up a bit. Get Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to do it!
Yeah, because nothing says “Terminator” like a sound of a broken vacuum cleaner.
I prefer to Steven Price for this project!
I think I’m gonna balfe all over the price.
And the world domination of Remote Control and Hans Zimmer continues. Next stop: 100% of American movies will all be scored by RC composers.
YES!!! that would be radical!
You sure you don’t want to see a doctor about that bump, Mr. Little?
If only it were true… I still think there are too many American movies that are NOT scored by RC composers.
Alexandre Desplat is hope for film music!
A lot of good composers in Hollywood, and just hire a guy who can not compose without the help of someone …
Enough with Zimmer and his clones!!!
This Lorne balfe guy I do not like his stuff it is always generic unless under supervision by hans zimmer and not only that I was really looking forward to what Christophe beck was going to do, what also is upsetting is now Lorne doing the music I’m almost certain we won’t get a soundtrack album released because this dudes work rarely gets put out on compact CD’s. I hope we do get a soundtrack release though I’d love to add another terminator soundtrack to my collection
I think James Newton Howard should score a Terminator film. Really.
Are you kidding? There will be a score album released. Terminator is a huge franchise. There have been score albums for all others and there will be for this one.
Like I said there might not be a physical release and nothing has come of its existence so I stand by what I said there would not be a release outside of digital only because as I stated lorne’s stuff barely if ever gets a physical release. The movie has been out just over 2 weeks and you still have yet to present a physical album for purchase
