Michael Giacchino has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Jurassic World. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio, Judy Greer and BD Wong. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is set to take place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park. Trevorrow has also co-written the screenplay with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing the project and Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer. The composer follows John Williams who scored Steven Spielberg’s first two movies in the series, as well as Don Davis who scored Jurassic Park III. Jurassic World is set to be released on June 12, 2014 by Universal Pictures.
Giacchino is currently recording his score for Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and also has composed the music for the Wachowski siblings’ Jupiter Ascending and Shawn Levy’s This Is Where I Leave Us. Also coming up for the composer is Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland.
