The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra has announced a concert featuring the world premiere performance of the Academy Award-nominated original score for Ridley Scott’s epic historical drama Gladiator performed live to projection. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard have composed the score for the Oscar-winning film starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. The music will be performed by over 150 members of the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and the 21st Century Choir under the baton of Ludwig Wicki. Three concerts will be held on two consecutive days on May 4 & 5, 2013 at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland. The project marks the orchestra’s sixth live to projection concert project of modern film music following performances of Howard Shore’s music for the three Lord of the Rings films, the score for the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Michael Giacchino’s score for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, which will have its world premiere this April. To order tickets for the Gladiator concert, click here (in English) or here (in German).

I still don’t understand why only Lisa Gerrard got the co-composer creidt for this. Until recently a good number of sound clips were available at Klaus Badelt’s official website, which seemed to suggest that he had a very strong role in the making of this score.
Yes, there were additional composers. But Lisa Gerrard got a credit because of the “inspiration” she brought to the project. In fact she didn’t compose anything!
