Chris Bacon has been hired to score A&E Network’s upcoming TV series Bates Motel. The show is a contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie Psycho and chronicles how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Freddie Highmore stars as Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga plays his mother Norma. Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel are co-starring. Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights) are executive producing the Universal Television production. Bates Motel is set to premiere on March 18, 2013 on A&E. Bacon whose best known credits include Duncan Jones’ Source Code and the animated hit film Gnomeo & Juliet is also returning to score the second season of the NBC musical drama Smash, which will debut on February 5, 2013.
