Terence Blanchard (Malcolm X, BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, 25th Hour, Perry Mason, Da 5 Bloods, Red Tails) has been hired to score the upcoming fantasy adventure Children of Blood and Bone. The film is co-written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard, Beyond the Lights) and stars Thuso Mbedu, Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba and Viola Davis. The movie based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Tomi Adeyemi is set in an African fantasy kingdom and tells the story of a young woman who goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people.. Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey & Marty Bowen (The Maze Runner, The Fault in Our Stars) are producing the project with Isaac Klausner (Smile, First Man), Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight, The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Matt Jackson (The Trial of the Chicago 7, Molly’s Game). Blanchard has previously scored Prince-Bythewood’s last movie, The Woman King, and also scored the director’s 2000 feature debut Love & Basketball. Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 15, 2027 by Paramount Pictures.
