Volker Bertelmann (Conclave, All Quiet on the Western Front,  Dune: Prophecy, AdriftLion, The Day of the Jackal, A House of Dynamite, The Amateur, One Life) has been hired to score DC Studios’ upcoming horror thriller Clayface. The film is directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil, The Woman in Black) and stars Tom Rhys Harries in the title role of the Gotham City villain, Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Eddie Marsan, Max Minghella, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James. The movie unravels one man’s horrifying descent from rising Hollywood star to revenge-filled monster.

Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Life of Chuck) and Hossein Amini (Drive, Snow White and the Huntsman) wrote the screenplay based on a story by Flanagan. Matt Reeves (The Batman, Rise of/War for the Planet of the Apes), Lynn Harris (The Notebook, The Shallows), James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Superman) and Peter Safran (Aquaman, The Conjuring) are producing the project. Clayface will be released in theater nationwide on October 23, 2026 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Bertelmann’s other recent projects include Anthony Maras’ Pressure, which will be released in theaters this weekend Focus Features, Antonin Baudry’s De Gaulle: Tilting Iron & The Sovereign Edge, which will open in French theaters over the next two months, as well as Michael Showalter’s Verity, which will be released on October 2.
