Republic Records will release the official soundtrack album for the musical comedy drama Power Ballad. The album features the film’s original songs co-written by director John Carney (OnceBegin Again, Flora and Son) & Gary Clark (who serves as the project’s executive music producer) and performed by lead actors Paul Rudd & Nick Jonas, including  How to Write a Song Without You (in three different versions), as well as the covers performed by Rudd and his fictional band. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, May 29. Check back on this page for the streaming/download link. Power Ballad is co-written and directed by Carney and also stars Peter McDonald, Havana Rose Liu, Marcella Plunkett and Jack Reynor. The movie follows a past-his-prime wedding singer who crosses paths with a fading boyband star during a gig, but when his new friend turns one of his songs into a hit, he sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. The dramedy premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on May 29 by Lionsgate before expanding nationwide on June 5.
