Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle, The Curse of La Llorona, Malignant, Dark Skies, The Unholy, Tarot) has recently scored the upcoming true crime drama The Leader. The film is written and directed by Michael Gallagher (The Thinning, Funny Story) and stars Vera Farmiga, Tim Blake Nelson, Jim Parsons, Grace Caroline Currey and Simon Rex. The movie chronicles the true story of Heaven’s Gate, the cult that convinced dozens to abandon their lives and await evacuation from planet Earth. Gallagher is also producing the project with Jana Gallagher & Michael Wormser, Joel David Moore (Hide and Seek, Spiral) and Matt Murphie (Dead Man’s Wire). The Leader will premiere this June at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival.
Bishara’s recent projects also include Damian McCarthy’s Hokum, which just opened in theaters last weekend. He also has Jacob Chase’s Insidious: Out of the Further coming up.
