Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the romantic comedy The Drama written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli and starring Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Hailey Benton Gates and Alana Haim. Also opening wide is the faith-based drama A Great Awakening co-written and directed by Joshua Enck and starring John Paul Sneed, Jonathan Blair, Josh Bates, Stephen Foster Harris, Matt Meyer and Zac Johnson. The film’s original music is composed by Chad Marriott (I Heard the Bells). Sight & Sound Films has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the original hymn Awaken Us Today today. Opening in New York today before expanding to more U.S. markets in the coming weeks is the French drama The Stranger (L’étranger) written and directed by François Ozon and starring Benjamin Voisin, Rebecca Marder, Pierre Lottin, Denis Lavant and Swann Arlaud. Fatima Al Qadiri (Atlantics, Seeking Mavis Beacon, SkincareThe Grandmother) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the movie opened in France. Also opening in select U.S. theaters today is the dystopia drama The Blue Trail (O Último Azul) co-written and directed by Gabriel Mascaro and starring Denise Weinberg, Rodrigo Santoro, Miriam Socarrás and Adanilo. The film’s original music is composed by Memo Guerra. Abstrakt Muzak has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year.
