Composer Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Queen of Katwe, Touching the Void, The Regime, State of Play, Shardlake, The Rite) is reuniting with director Justin Chadwick (Tulip Fever, The Other Boleyn Girl) on the upcoming action thriller Brothers Under Fire. The film stars Kiefer Sutherland as a captain whose squadron on leave for a wedding in Mexico encounters a murderous cartel and is forced into a battle to save his men when war erupts between his squad and the cartel. Omar Chaparro, Laura Osma, Tommy Martinez and Ashton Sanders are co-starring. Ian Mackenzie Jeffers (The Grey, Death Sentence) and Delbert Hancock wrote the screenplay based on a story by James Keach (Walk the Line, Turning Point) & Trevor Albert (Groundhog Day, Multiplicity). Keach is also producing the project with Nik Bower (The Wedding Guest, A Banquet), Robert Stein (The Call, Careful What You Wish For) and Griff Furst (Welcome to Sudden Death, 57 Seconds). Heffes has previously collaborated with Chadwick on the features Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom & The First Grader. Brothers Under Fire will be released in select theaters and on VOD on April 17, 2026 by Vertical.
Heffes’ other recent feature projects include Peter Webber’s DRAGN, which just opened in select theaters earlier this month and is now also available on VOD.
