Antonio Pinto (Lord of War, McFarland, USA, Nine Days, Amy, Flight Risk, Senna, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) has composed the original music for the upcoming Brazilian dystopian action thriller Beast Race (Corrida dos Bichos). The film is directed by Ernesto Solis, Rodrigo Pesavento &  Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, The Two Popes) and stars Matheus Abreu, Rodrigo Santoro, Isis Valverde, Thainá Duarte, Bruno Gagliasso, Seu Jorge, João Guilherme, Silvero Pereira, Grazi Massafera and Anitta. The movie is set in a dystopian Rio de Janeiro fractured by class conflict and addicted to blood sport and follows a resistance leader who is forced to enter a violent, high-stakes race to save his sister from a fate worse than death. Meirelles is also producing the project with Andrea Barata Ribeiro (Blindness, Adrift) and Vinicio Espinosa. Pinto has previously collaborated with Mereilles on 2002’s City of God and 2007’s City of Men (produced by the filmmaker. Beast Race is premiering today at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival and will debut in the coming months on Prime Video.
