Michael Abels (Get Out,Star Wars: The AcolyteNope, Us, The Burial, Sirens, See You YesterdayLandscape with Invisible HandBreaking) has been hired to score the upcoming indie drama An Ode to Mary Jo. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Justin Liberman and stars Rhiannon Giddens, Ed Helms, Annarah Cymone, Oakley Skye Maloney, John Sayles, Jason Isbell, Regina Taylor and Steve Earle. The movie follows single mother navigating the most pivotal day of her life, as she confronts a series of escalating challenges that could reshape her family’s future. Giddens is also contributing original songs and serves as the project’s music supervisor. Liberman co-wrote the screenplay with Erik Christian Hanson and is also producing the film with Ranger 7 Films’ Mike Callaghan & Reuben Liber (Line Watch, Extraction), Tilted Windmill Productions’ Matt Ratner (Standing Up, Falling Down, Band of Robbers), FilmPool Films’ Brenton Earley (Chokehold, Rottentail), as well as Aaron Rosenbloom and Chris Rouse. An Ode to Mary Jo recently finished principal photography. No word yet on a premiere date. (Deadline)
