Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the biographical comedy drama Blue Moon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Graham Reynolds (A Scanner Darkly, Hit Man, Before Midnight, Bernie, Last Flag Flying, Where’d You Go, Bernadette, Sister Aimee), as well as piano arrangements of songs written by Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Mitchell Parish, Tom Adair & Matt Dennis, among others, produced and performed by Reynolds. Blue Moon is directed by Richard Linklater and stars Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Scott. The movie follows legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart as he confronts his shattered self-confidence in Sardi’s bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his hit musical Oklahoma! on the evening of March 31, 1943. The dramedy, which premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, was released in New York and Los Angeles last Friday by Sony Pictures Classics and is expanding to more markets this weekend.
