Dan Romer (Luca, Lilo & Stitch, Station Eleven, Superman & Lois, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac, Beasts of the Southern Wild,The Good Doctor) has recently been scoring the upcoming HBO original series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The show is created by George R. R. Martin & Ira Parker (Four in the Morning) based on Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight and stars Peter Claffey, Dexter Sol Ansell, Finn Bennett, Tanzyn Crawford, Bertie Carvel, Daniel Ings and Sam Spruell. The fantasy drama is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones and follows two unlikely heroes who wandered Westeros: a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Parker serves as the project’s showrunner and is also executive producing with Sarah Bradshaw (The Mummy, My Lady Jane, Ryan Condal (House of the Dragon, Colony), Vince Gerardis (Dark Winds, Flashforward), as well as Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends, Mrs. Davis) who also directed multiple episodes. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere in January of 2026 on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Romer’s other recent projects include Lauren Meyering’s Horsegirls, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
