Oliver Coates (Aftersun, Mary & George, Occupied City, Foe, The Stranger, Significant Other) has recently scored the upcoming fairy tale romance 100 Nights of Hero. The film is written and directed by Julia Jackman (Bonus Track) and stars Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine, Maika Monroe, Charli XCX, Amir El-Masry, Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones. The movie is based on the bestselling graphic novel The One Hundred Nights of Hero by Isabel Greenberg and tells the story of a woman whose neglectful husband departs after placing a secret wager to test her fidelity and – together with her sharp-witted maid – must fend off a dangerously seductive visitor. Stephanie Aspin and Helen Simmons (Last Swim) are producing the project for Erebus Pictures, alongside Grant S. Johnson (May December, The Assessment) for Project Infinity. 100 Nights of Hero will premiere at this year’s Venice Critics’ Week and will be released in U.S. theaters this fall by the Independent Film Company.
Coates’ other recent projects include Harry Lighton’s Pillion, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date, as well as Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound (starring Paul Mescal & Josh O’Connor), which also premiered at Cannes and will be released in U.S. theaters on September 12 by MUBI.
