The details of the soundtrack album for Michael Haneke’s critically praised drama Amour have been announced. The album includes the classical music featured in the film performed by French pianist Alexandre Tharaud. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 21, 2012 and in the US on October 12 by Virgin Classics. (UPDATE: December 2012: A physical release is scheduled to be released on January 22, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon). Check out audio clips after the jump. Amour starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert centers on the final months in an elderly Parisian couple’s marriage. The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival where it won the Palme d’Or and has been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics for a US theatrical release on December 19, 2012.
