Austin Wintory (JourneyAssassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Captain Abu Raed, Aliens; Fireteam Elite, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, GraceThe Banner Saga) has been tapped to score the upcoming historical drama Reykjavik. The film is written and directed by Michael Russell Gunn (in his feature directorial debut) and stars Jeff Daniels, Jared Harris, J.K. Simmons, Hope Davis, Branka Katic and Aya Cash. The movie takes place in 1986 during the Cold War and chronicles the Reykjavik Summit, when political enemies Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev met in Iceland over one long, tense weekend to decide if there will be peace or war in the world. Gunn is also producing the SK Global production with John Logan Pierson (American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing). Wintory has previously collaborated with Gunn on the Netflix limited series Thai Cave Rescue. Reykjavik is expected to premiere in 2025.

Wintory’s recent feature projects also include Clark Baker’s horror movie Test Screening. The film starring Chloe Kerwin, Drew Scheid, Rain Spencer & Johnny Berchtold is set in the early 1980 and follows four lifelong best friends whof ind their lives upended when a Hollywood film decides to hold a secret test screening in their small, declining Oregon town. The film premiered at this year’s Screamfest in Hollywood and is currently awaiting a distribution deal.
