Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, Stargirl, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Shotgun Wedding, Slumberland, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora) has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original film Lonely Planet. The movie is written and directed by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Catch and Release) and stars Laura Dern, Liam Hemsworth, Diana Silvers, Younès Boucif, Adriano Giannini and Rachida Brakni. The romantic drama follows a young man who accompanies his girlfriend to her prestigious writers retreat in Morocco, but struggles to find his place with the intellectual elite and finds solace with a renowned but reclusive writer that evolves into a forbidden and intoxicating love affair. Grant is also producing the project with Liza Chasin (Stillwater, Anatomy of a Scandal) and Sarah Timberman (Justified, Unbelievable). Toprak has previously scored the Chasin-produced feature The Lost City. Lonely Planet will premiere on October 11, 2024 exclusively on Netflix.
Toprak has also recently co-scored the upcoming Netflix animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (with Gerrit Wunder) developed by Tasha Huo based on the video game franchise and starring Hayley Atwell, Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon. The Legendary Television production, which follows the title character as she continues to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths across dangerous destinations, will premiere on October 10, 2024 on Netflix.
