Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, The Old Guard, Patrick Melrose, One Life, Ammonite) has composed the original score for the upcoming thriller A Sacrifice. The film is written and directed by Jordan Scott (Cracks) and stars Eric Bana, Sadie Sink, Sylvia Hoeks, Jonas Dassler, Stephan Kampwirth, Sophie Rois and Lara Feith. The movie is inspired by Nicholas Hogg’s 2015 novel Tokyo Nobody and follows an American social psychologist living in Berlin who investigates a disturbing cult, while his rebellious teenage daughter gets involved with a mysterious local boy who introduces her to the city’s underground party scene. Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner) is producing the Scott Free production with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler, Our Friend) & Georgina Pope (Earthquake Bird), as well as Jonas Katzenstein & Maximilian Leo (7500). Bertelmann has previously scored the Katzenstein- & Leo-produced features Stowaway, Home and The Dive. A Sacrifice will be released in U.S. theaters on June 28, 2024 by Vertical.
Bertelmann’s other recent feature projects include Rupert Sanders’ The Crow (to be released on August 23 by Lionsgate) and Edward Berger’s Conclave (to be released on November 1 by Focus Features).
