Joy Ngiaw (Glamorous, Rescued by Ruby) has been tapped to score the upcoming Apple TV+ original animated series WondLa. The show, which marks Skydance Animation’s first TV series, is based on the sci-fi fantasy novels by Tony DiTerlizzi (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and tells the coming-of-age story of a 16-year-old girl who goes on an epic journey with her robot caretaker and a cantankerous blue alien and learns that she might have the power to unite the world as she discovers fantastic civilizations. Bobs Gannaway (Monsters at Work, 101 Dalmatians: The Series) serves as the project’s showrunner. DiTerlizzi is also executive producing the show with Skydance Animation head John Lasseter (Toy Story, Cars, A Bug’s Life) and Skydance Media’s David Ellison (Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation). Ngiaw has previously scored Skydance Animation’s 2021 short Blush and also composed the music for the studio’s first logo sequence. WondLa is expected to premiere this year on Apple TV+.
