Natalie Holt (Loki, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Journey’s End, Knightfall, Herself, Fever Dream, Beecham House, Press) has teamed up with Jack Halama (Traces, Who Is Erin Carter?, Kindred, Rogue, Too Close) to score the upcoming British Hulu/Disney+ original series Rivals. The show is based on the novel of the same title by Dame Jilly Cooper and star Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson and David Tennant. The 8-part drama is set against the backdrop of the drama, excess, and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England and explores the ruthless world of independent television in 1986. Cooper is also executive producing the Happy Prince production with Dominic Treadwell-Collins (A Very British Scandal, EastEnders), Alexander Lamb (We Hunt Together, You & Me), Felicity Blunt, Laura Wade (The Riot Club). Elliot Hegarty serves as the project’s director and also executive produced the first four episodes. Rivals will premiere later this year in the U.S. on Hulu and in the UK on Disney+.
Holt’s other recent projects include Peter Chan’s Chinese drama She’s Got No Name, which will premiere this month at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
