Coby Brown (Guns for Hire, Blue Sky Metropolis) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama Freud’s Last Session. The film is directed by Matthew Brown and stars Anthony Hopkins, Matthew Goode, Liv Lisa Fries, Jodi Balfour, Jeremy Northam, Stephen Campbell Moore and Orla Brady. The movie is set on the eve of World War II, when famed psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud (towards the end of his life) invites iconic author C.S. Lewis for a debate over the existence of God. Mark St. Germain (Duma, The God Committee) wrote the screenplay. Alan Greisman (Fletch, Soapdish), Rick Nicita, Meg Thomson (Siren), Hannah Leader (Damascus Cover, My Happy Ending), Robert Stillman and Tristan Orpen Lynch (The Other Lamb, Aisha) are producing the project. Coby Brown has previously scored the director’s last feature, The Man Who Knew Infinity. Freud’s Last Session will premiere this month at AFI Fest in Los Angeles and will be distributed in the U.S. by Sony Pictures Classics.
Brown’s other recent projects include the sports drama Fight Like a Girl written and directed by Matthew Leutwyler and starring Ama Qamata & Hakeem Kae-Kazim. The movie, which tells the story of a young Congolese woman who find a new life for herself after joining an all-women boxing club in the border city of Goma, is expected to be released in 2024.
