James Ó Ceallaigh (aka James Kelly) (Snowpiercer, The Stranger) has made his (solo) feature scoring debut on the upcoming action thriller The Surgeon. The film is written and directed by Roshan Sethi (A Nice Indian Boy, World’s Best) and stars Michelle Yeoh, Martin Freeman, Laurie Davidson, Joseph Mydell and Yuri Kolokolnikov. The movie follows a retired surgeon who is abducted and forced to operate on a mystery patient before using her medical knowledge to fight back. Thunder Road Films’ Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee (John Wick series, Sicario) and Diarmaid McGrath are producing the project with Tim Headington (Hugo, The Green Knight), Lia Buman (Wicker, Spaceman), Neil Shah, Steve Klinsky (Trust, Manhattan Night), Adam Kolbrenner (Free Guy, Prisoners) and John Schoenfelder & Russell Ackerman (Hold the Dark, Capone). Ó Ceallaigh has previously contributed additional music to several films and shows scored by Bobby Krlic over the last couple of years and co-scored the final season of Snowpiercer and the Quibi series The Stranger. The Surgeon is premiering tonight at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.
