Dickon Hinchliffe (Winter’s Bone, The Lost Daughter, Leave No Trace, Out of the Furnace, Locke, Daddio, Last Chance Harvey) has composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film Remarkably Bright Creatures. The movie is directed by Olivia Newman (Where the Crawdads Sing, First Match) and stars Sally Field, Lewis Pullman, Colm Meaney, Joan Chen, Beth Grant, Kathy Baker, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Donald Sales, Brandon McEwan and Mapuana Makia. The drama is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Shelby Van Pelt and tells the story of a widow who bonds with a clever octopus and an adrift young man while working nights at a small-town aquarium. Newman also co-wrote the screenplay with John Whittington (The Lego Batman Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 & 3). Bryan Unkeless (I, Tonya, Birds of Prey) & Peter Craig (The Batman, The Town) are producing the project for Night Owl, alongside David Levine (Nickel Boys, Disclaimer) for Anonymous Content. Remarkably Bright Creatures will premiere on May 8 on Netflix and will also be released in select theaters on the same day.
