Edo Van Breemen (The Monkey, Keeper, AirAfflicted, Hollow in the Land, The Backward Class) and YouTuber Kane Parsons are composing the original score for the upcoming supernatural horror feature Backrooms. The film is directed by Parsons based on his YouTube series of the same name and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Lukita Maxwell and Finn Bennett. The movie revolves around a strange doorway that appears in the basement of a furniture showroom. Will Soodik wrote the screenplay. Atomic Monster’s James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring) & Michael Clear (Malignant, 56 Days) are producing the project with Roberto Patino (Westworld, DMZ), 21 Laps Entertainment’s Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen & Dan Levine (Stranger Things, Arrival), Chris Ferguson (Dangerous Animals, Little Fish), Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin & Jenno Topping (The Greatest Showman, Hidden Figures), Kori Adelson (Fear Street, Dicks: The Musical), as well as Osgood Perkins (Longlegs) who previously collaborated with Van Breemen on his last two features. Parsons has previously scored the Backrooms series, as well as his other YouTube shows, including The Oldest View & People Still Live Here. Backrooms will be released in theaters nationwide on May 29, 2026 by A24.
