Pop Noire has released a soundtrack album for the French/Canadian coming-of-age drama Stereo Girls (Les immortelles). The album features the film’s original music composed by singer/songwriter and actress Calypso Valois who has made her feature scoring debut on the project. Stereo Girls is co-written and directed by Caroline Deruas and stars Léna Garrel, Louiza Aura, Emmanuelle Béart, Vahina Giocante, Gérard Watkins, Aymeric Lompret, Adama Diop and Agnès Berthon. The movie is set in the 1990s in the south of France and revolves around two inseparable 17-year-old best friends bound by their love of music and desire for freedom, until tragedy strikes and tears them apart. The drama premiered at last year’s Venice Critics’ Week and just opened in French theaters last Wednesday. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
