Jeff Russo (Fargo, Alien: Earth, Star Trek: Discovery & Picard, For All Mankind, Zero Day, The Night Of, Legion, Ripley, The Man Who Feel to Earth) is scoring the upcoming Apple TV limited series Cape Fear. The show is created by Nick Antosca (Candy, Antlers) and stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, CCH Pounder, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, Jamie Hector and Anna Baryshnikov. The 10-part psychological horror thriller is based on both the novel The Executioners, which inspired Gregory Peck’s Universal Pictures 1962 feature (scored by Bernard Herrmann), as well as Martin Scorsese’s 1991 remake (featuring music by Herrmann adapted by Elmer Bernstein) and follows two happily married attorneys whose lives are shattered when the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars is let out of prison. Antosca & Scorsese are also executive producing the UCP & Amblin Television production with Steven Spielberg (who produced the 1991 film), Alex Hedlund (Chucky, Murdaugh: Death in the Family), and Darryl Frank & Justin Falvey (The Americans, Masters of the Air), as well as Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Passengers) who also directed the first episode. Russo has previously collaborated with Antosca on Syfy’s Channel Zero, Hulu’s The Act and Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor. Cape Fear will premiere on June 5, 2026 exclusively on Apple TV.
Russo’s other recent projects include Paramount+’s Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which premiered last month with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
