Composer David Buckley (The SandmanThe Good Wife, NobodyThe Nice Guys, PapillonThe Forbidden KingdomJason Bourne) is reteaming with director Ric Roman Waugh (SnitchShot Caller) on the upcoming action thriller Shelter. The film is directed by Waugh and stars Jason Statham, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, Naomi Ackie and Bill Nighy. The movie is set on a remote coastal island, where a reclusive man rescues a young girl from a deadly storm and – forced out of isolation – must confront his turbulent past while protecting her, sending them on a journey of survival and redemption. Ward Parry wrote the screenplay. Statham is also producing the project with John Friedberg (A Working Man, Ferrari), Brendon Boyea (National Champions, Voyagers), Greg Silverman (Dead of Winter, Space Cadet) and Jon Berg (Elf, A Minecraft Movie). Buckley has previously collaborated with Waugh on the features Angel Has Fallen, Greenland, Kandahar and the upcoming Greenland 2: Migration (to open in theaters on January 9). Shelter will be released in theaters nationwide on January 30, 2026 by Black Bear Pictures.
