Ben Foster (Ridley, Torchwood, Thunderbirds Are Go!, Hidden Kingdoms, The Good Karma Hotel, Scott & Bailey) is the composer of the new BBC drama Riot Women. The show is created by Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack, Renegade Nell) and stars Joanna Scanlan, Rosalie Craig, Tamsin Greig, Amelia Bullmore, Lorraine Ashbourne, Taj Atwal, Chandeep Uppal and Macy Seelochan. The punk duo ARXX has contributed original songs to the 6-part series, which follows a teacher, a police officer, a midwife, a pub landlady and a shoplifting freeloader who form a female punk rock band to take part in a local talent contest and suddenly find they have a lot more to shout about than they ever imagined. Wainwright also serves as the project’s lead director and is executive producing the drama with DramaRepublic’s Roanna Benn (One Day, The Lovers), as well as Tanya Qureshi (I May Destroy You, Ludwig) for the BBC, Robert Schildhouse (Code of Silence, Towards Zero) and Jess O’Riordan (Murder Is Easy, Outrageous) for BritBox. Foster has previously collaborated with Wainwright on BBC’s Happy Valley. Riot Women is premiering in the UK tonight on BBC One (and will also be available to stream on the BBCiPlayer) and will make its U.S. debut on BritBox.
