John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book, The Emperor’s New Groove, Hocus Pocus) has recently been recording his score for the upcoming holiday comedy The Man with the Bag. The film is directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Bedtime Stories) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alan Ritchson, Awkwafina, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Ken Jeong, Michael Cyril Creighton, Berkeley James, Adrian Martinez, Roger Bart, Jesmille Darbouze, Karren Karagulian, Gabi Samels, Jane Krakowski and Murray Hill. The movie follows Santa who – together with his daughter and a group of misfits – has to pull of his greatest heist to save Christmas when his magic bag gets stolen.Allan Rice wrote the screenplay. Ritchson is producing the Amazon MGM Studios production with Lawrence Grey (Lights Out, Pain Hustlers), Ben Everard (Yes Day, Family Switch), Reg Tigerman and Dan Spilo (Uglies, Good American Family). Debney has previously collaborated with Shankman on 2005’s The Pacifier. The Man with the Bag is expected to premiere this holiday season on Prime Video.
Debney’s other upcoming projects include the Netflix animated film In Your Dreams, which will be released in select theaters on November 7 before premiering on Netflix on November 14, as well as Nickelodeon’s animated sequel The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants, which will open in theaters on December 19.
