Emile Mosseri (Minari, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Kajillionaire, Homecoming, When You Finish Saving the World) has provided the original score for the upcoming drama Preparation for the Next Life. The film is directed by Bing Liu (Minding the Gap, All These Sons) and stars Sebiye Behtiyar and Fred Hechinger. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Atticus Lish and follows a Uyghur woman trained by her military father who migrates to New York City, where she finds herself laboring in Chinatown’s underground kitchens and falls in love with a young American soldier who has just returned from three tours in the Middle East. Martyna Majok wrote the screenplay. Plan B Entertainment’s Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, F1) are producing the project with Barry Jenkins & Adele Romanski (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) and Mark Ceryak (Mufasa: The Lion King, Aftersun). Preparation for the Next Life will be released in select theaters on September 5, 2025 by Orion Pictures.
