Plaza Mayor Company has released a soundtrack album for the Belgian/French political thriller Mexico 86. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rémi Boubal (Plan 75, Black Tide, Our Mothers Bigger Than Us, Teach Me If You Can). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the composer’s title track after the jump. Mexico 86 is written and directed by César Díaz and stars Bérénice Béjo, Léonardo Ortizgris, Matheo Labbé and Julieta Egurrola. The movie follows a Guatemalan rebel activist fighting against the corrupt military dictatorship who is forced to flee to Mexico in 1976, leaving her son behind, when – 10 years later – he comes to live with her and she is forced to choose between her duties as a mother and continuing her revolutionary activism. The thriller premiered at last year’s Locarno Film Festival and is opening in French theaters today. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
