Carlos Rafael Rivera (Lessons in Chemistry, Griselda, Ezra, Chupa, Just Beyond) is the composer of the upcoming British Netflix original series Dept. Q. The show is written and directed by Scott Frank (The Lookout, Logan) and stars Matthew Goode, Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Kelly Macdonald and Leah Byrne. The crime thriller/drama is based on the novels of the same name by Jussi Adler-Olsen and revolves around a former top-rated detective in Edinburgh who gets assigned to a new cold case whilst wracked with guilt following an attack that left his partner paralyzed and another policeman dead. Frank is also executive producing the Left Bank Pictures production with Rob Bullock (Who Is Erin Carter?, Origin) and Andy Harries (he Queen, The Crown). Rivera has previously collaborated with Frank on the TV shows Godless, The Queen’s Gambit & Monsieur Spade, as well as the feature A Walk Among the Tombstones. Dept. Q will premiere on May 29 exclusively on Netflix.
Rivera also continues to co-score Max’s Hacks, which just returned for its fourth season earlier this month.
