Jeremiah Fraites (of the folk band The Lumineers) is making his narrative feature scoring debut on the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 novel The Long Walk. The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) and stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Mark Hamill, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Judy Greer, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick and Roman Griffin Davis. The horror drama is set in a dystopian America, in which 100 teenage boys embark on the titular annual competition, during which each competitor must keep walking faster than four miles per hour or risk being eliminated. JT Mollner (Strange Darling, Outlaws and Angels) wrote the screenplay. Lawrence is also producing the project with Roy Lee (It, Barbarian), Cameron MacConomy and Steven Schneider (Insidious, Pet Sematary). Fraites has previously co-written the song The Hanging Tree from Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. The Long Walk is expected be released in theaters nationwide in late 2025 by Lionsgate.
