Jeff Russo (FargoStar Trek: Discovery & PicardRipley, The Umbrella AcademyLegion, The Night Of) has composed the original music for the upcoming drama The Last Rodeo. The film is directed by Jon Avnet (Fried Green Tomatoes, Up Close & Personal) and stars Neal McDonough, Derek Presley, Mykelti Williamson, Sarah Jones, Christopher McDonald and professional bull riding champion Daylon Swearingen. The movie tells the story of a retired rodeo legend facing his own painful past and the fears of his family who enters a high-stakes bull-riding competition as the oldest contestant ever to save his grandson. Avnet & McDonough also co-wrote the screenplay with Derek Presley (Red Stone) and are also producing the project with Ruvé McDonough (Boon), Kip Konwiser (Wild Oats, Outlaw Posse), Darren Moorman (Sight, Same Kind of Different as Me) and Stephen Preston (Finding You). Russo has previously scored Avnet’s last feature, Three Christs. The Last Rodeo will be released in theaters nationwide on May 23, 2025 by Angel Studios.
