Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, The Equalizer 3, Wonder, The Affair, May December, The Good Shepherd, Ray Donovan, Emancipation) is scoring the upcoming Hulu limited series Good American Family. The show is created by Katie Robbins (Sunny) and stars Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, Imogen Faith Reid, Christina Hendricks, Dulé Hill, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara. The drama revolves around a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism, but as they begin to raise her alongside their biological children, mystery emerges around her background and age, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. Robbins & Pompeo are also executive producing the 20th Television production with co-showrunner Sarah Sutherland, Laura Holstein, Andrew Stearn (Shameless, Gypsy), Dan Spilo (Uglies, Back Roads), as well as Niles Kirchner & Mike Epps (The Upshaws). Liz Garbus (What Happened, Miss Simone?, Lost Girls) directed and executive produced the pilot episode. Good American Family will premiere on March 19 exclusively on Hulu.
Zarvos’ other recent projects include Stephen Chbosky’s Nonnas, which will premiere this year on Netflix. He also composed the music for Hannah Berryman’s documentary Spacewoman about astronaut Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot and command the space shuttle. The movie premiered at last year’s DOC NYC and is currently awaiting a release date.
