Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings have announced the first-ever vinyl release of the soundtrack album for the 1996 epic romantic drama The English Patient directed by Anthony Minghella and starring Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth and Naveen Andrews. The 2-LP set features the film’s original music composed by Gabriel Yared (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, Message in a Bottle, Betty Blue, 1408) who has received his first Academy Award for score, performed by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields feat. pianist John Constable and vocalist Márta Sebestyén, and conducted by Harry Rabinowitz. The album, which will be available on “Saharan Sun” orange vinyl, will be released on March 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A separate limited-edition “Sands of Love” custard pressing is available from Barnes & Noble. Fantasy Records has previously released the original soundtrack album back in 1996 featuring the same content as the new vinyl edition. The English Patient is now available on VOD, Blu-ray and DVD.
