Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the streamer’s documentary short The Only Girl in the Orchestra. The album features the film’s music composed by Laura Karpman (American Fiction, The Marvels, Captain America: Brave New World, Set It Up, Miss Marvel, Lovecraft Country, What If..?, Paris Can Wait). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s first track (Meditation on When Laura Smiles from Rosseter A Book of Ayres 1601) below. The Only Girl in the Orchestra is directed by Molly O’Brien and celebrates trailblazing double bassist Orin O’Brien who was hired by Leonard Bernstein in 1966 as the first female musician in the New York Philharmonic and inevitably became the focus of media attention and, ultimately, one of the most renowned musicians of a generation. The short, which has recently been nominated in the Documentary Short category for this year’s Academy Awards, is now available to stream on Netflix.
