This morning, the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of the last year will be presented on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center and will be televised live in the U.S. on the ABC Television Network and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Among the score composers, Volker Bertelmann (previous winner for All Quiet on the Western Front) received his third nomination, Stephen Schwartz (previous winner for score and song from Pocahontas & song from The Prince of Egypt) received his fourth nomination in the score category and ninth nomination overall, John Powell received his second nomination and Kris Bowers (previous winner for co-directing the documentary short The Last Repair Shop) received his first nomination in the score category and third nomination overall. Daniel Blumberg Clément Ducol and Camille are all first time nominees.
No surprise really, but finally no Trent Raznor/Atticus Ross plus Hans Zimmer did get his Oscar for DUNE already. Wicked with all the songs may be on the up here?!
