The film is directed by Clint Bentley and stars Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy. The movie follows an American railroad laborer at the start of the 20th century as he experiences profound love, shocking defeat, and a world irrevocably transforming before his very eyes. Bentley also co-wrote the screenplay with Greg Kwedar (Sing Sing, Transpecos). Marissa McMahon (A Private War), Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game, All Is Lost), Will Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer and Michael Heimler (Immaculate, I Care a Lot). Dessner has previously co-scored Bentley’s feature directorial debut, Jockey (with Aaron Dessner) and also composed the music for the Bentley-produced and Kwedar-directed Sing Sing. Train Dreams will premiere this month at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

Dessner’s other recent scoring projects include Bonni Cohen’s & Jon Shenk’s documentary In Waves and War, which premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
