Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1970 “musical” romantic comedy Darling Lili co-written and directed by Blake Edwards and starring Julie Andrews, Rock Hudson, Jeremy Kemp, Lance Percival, Michael Witney and Jacques Marin. The album features the original songs from the film written by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther, The Thorn Birds, Santa Claus: The Movie, Charade, Lifeforce) and featuring lyrics by Johnny Mercer, as well as demos played by Mercer before filming that include two unused songs, as well as instrumental versions of the songs. Also included is the premiere release of Mancini’s complete original underscore from the movie. Mancini & Mercer received two Academy Award nominations (for the original song Whistling Away the Dark and the “song score”). The 2-CD set is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. Darling Lili is now available on VOD and DVD.
