Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the drama The Return. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House RulesChocolat, The Manchurian Candidate, Never Let Me Go, One Life). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, December 6. Check back on this page for the streaming/download link. The Return is co-written and directed by Uberto Pasolini and stars Juliette Binoche, Ralph Fiennes, Charlie Plummer, Marwan Kenzari, Claudio Santamaria and Ángela Molina. The movie is based on Homer’s ancient classic The Odyssey and follows King Odysseus as he washes up on the shores of Ithaca 20 years after he left his kingdom and finds his beloved wife Penelope hounded by suitors vying to be king, and his son Telemachus facing death at the hands of these suitors, who see him as merely an obstacle to their pursuit of the kingdom. The drama premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on December 6 by Bleecker Street.
