Netflix Music will release the official soundtrack album for the streamer’s original film The Piano Lesson. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, The Queen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Philomena, Godzilla). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, November 15 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s title track below. The Piano Lesson is directed by Malcolm Washington and stars Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Danielle Deadwyler, Ray Fisher, Corey Hawkins, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Gail Bean and Jerrika Hinton. The drama based on August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same title by is set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression and centers on the brewing battle over the fate of an heirloom piano that threatens to tear a family apart. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Telluride Film Festival, opened in select theaters last Friday and will premiere debut next Friday, November 22 on Netflix.
