Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, John Wick, Deadpool 2, X, Dawn of the Dead, Atomic Blonde, MaXXXine) has provided the original score for the new Peacock original series Hysteria!. The show is created by Matthew Scott Kane & David A. Goodman and stars Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Kezii Curtis, Chiara Aurelia and Nikki Hahn, as well as recurring guest stars Bruce Campbell and Garret Dillahunt. The 8-part horror series takes place in the late 1980s after a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” and follows a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a series of kidnappings, murders, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a witch hunt that leads directly back to them. Kane & Goodman are also executive producing the UCP production with John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Game Night), Good Fear Content’s Chris Bender (A History of Violence, The Butterfly Effect) and Jake Weiner (Mulan, Under the Silver Lake), as well as Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island, The Kings of Summer) who also directed the first and final episode. Hysteria! will premiere this coming Friday, October 18 exclusively on Peacock.
Bates also continues to co-score CBS’ Tracker, which just returned for its second season yesterday and Paramount+’s Criminal Minds Evolution, which has been renewed for a third season. He also has the John Wick spin-off feature Ballerina coming up.
