Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli (One Piece, The Witcher, The Mist, The Romanoffs, The Thing About Pam, Sacred Lies) are scoring the upcoming sword-and-sorcery feature Red Sonja. The film is directed by M.J. Bassett (Silent Hill: Revelation, Solomon Kane) and stars Matilda Lutz, Wallis Day, Robert Sheehan, Martyn Ford, Michael Bisping, Eliza Matengu, Katrina Durden, Manal El-Feitury and Oliver Trevena. The movie is based on the bestselling comic book series and follows the titular barbarian huntress who has been enslaved by an evil tyrant who wishes to destroy her people and must unite a group of unlikely warriors to face off against Dragan The Magnificent and his deadly bride. Tasha Huo wrote the screenplay based on the heroine created by Robert E. Howard and adapted by Roy Thomas. Mark Canton (300, Den of Thieves), Courtney Solomon (After, Dungeons & Dragons) and Luke Lieberman are producing the project with Millennium Media’s Les Weldon (The Expendables, The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Jeffrey Greenstein (The Offering, Till Death), Jonathan Yunger (The Outpost, The Protege) & Yariv Lerner (Rambo: Last Blood, Angel Has Fallen), as well as Joe Gatta (Conan the Barbarian). Belousova & Ostinelli have previously scored Bassett’s 2019 feature Inside Man: Most Wanted. Ennio Morricone has composed the music for 1985’s first live-action adaptation of the Red Sonja character. No release date has been announced yet for the reboot.
Belousova & Ostinelli also continue to score Netflix’s One Piece live-action series, which will return for a second season.
Not bad.
Now, is this movie ever gonna come out at any point in the future?
