Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds & Prodigy, Thor: Love and Thunder, An American Pickle, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, Absentia) has composed the original music for Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming Disney+ original series Dream Productions. The show is written and directed by Mike Jones (screenwriter of Soul & Luca) and features the voices of Paula Pell, Richard Ayoade, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Kensington Tallman, Alli Maki, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Phyllis Smith and Lewis Black. The series is set between the events of Pixar’s features Inside Out & Inside Out 2 and follows Riley who gets sent to Dream Productions, where acclaimed director Paula Persimmon is trying to create the next hit dream after being paired up with a smug daydream director looking to step up into the big leagues of night dreams. Jaclyn Simon is producing the project. Dream Productions will premiere on December 11, 2024 on Disney+.
Melumad also continues to score Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which will return for two more seasons. She has also recently scored Nicholas Colias’ Griffin in Summer, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date, as well as Luis Prieto’s Spanish feature Estación Rocafort, which opened in Spanish theaters last month.
I’ve seen one episode. If you enjoyed and didn’t mind how Inside Out 2 felt like it had the frantic pacing and aggressive joke rhythms of multiple sitcom episodes happening simultaneously, this is for you.
