Mick Giacchino (The Muppets Mayhem, Zootopia+, Extinct, That Dirty Black Bag, Jim Henson’s Turkey Hollow) has provided the original score for the new HBO limited series The Penguin. The show is developed by Lauren LeFranc and stars Colin Farrell who reprises his role of the title character (aka Oz Cobb) from Matt Reeves’ 2022 feature The Batman. Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Michael Kelly, Deirdre O’Connell, James Madio, Clancy Brown, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo and Theo Rossi are also starring in the 8-parter. LeFranc (Impulse) serves as the project’s showrunner and is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Reeves (Dawn of/War for the Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield), Dylan Clark (Oblivion, Bird Box), Farrell, Bill Carraro (Frequency, The Adjustment Bureau), as well as Craig Zobel (Compliance, The Hunt) who also directed the first three episodes. Mick Giacchino has previously provided additional music to Reeves’ The Batman (scored by his father Michael Giacchino). The Penguin will premiere next Thursday, September 19 on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.
